[Slapped to the door of the clothing store is a note. It's not a very remarkable note, even if the text is a bit on the large side. But it's a note on a door, so most people will probably stop to read it.

That's good. [Aerith's just relaxing on the grass a bit, stretching out.] This experiment really is strange, isn't it?

I hate it.

[Aerith frowns a little, looking up at the sky.] ...It is bad...even if no one uses it to hurt people on purpose, someone might cause an accident just by saying the wrong thing. It's already happened a few times.

Or force them into humiliating situations out of spite.

The person who put up that sign should be praying they don't get caught. There must be quite a few upset by it.

I've every intention of enacting swift and painful retribution.

It wasn't harmful, though...very careless.

Do not presume to speak for me. It was quite harmful to me. The experience was horrid.

Oh! I didn't--[a laugh.] I guess that shows that I'm not reading enough.

Perhaps you should visit more often...

I wouldn't mind. Books about gardens and plants, and fairy tales and romances--does the library have those?

Oh, yes, we have all sorts, really. I was surprised to find that many of my favorite novels are present in the library. It's a bit odd, given that Gensokyo is such a fairy tale like place, that I enjoy that genre as much as I do.

Is the Gensokyo where you're from?

It is. It's been referred to as "paradise", separated from the outer world and all of its troubles by the Great Hakurei Border. In that world, Youkai and Humans have a sort of odd coexistence, and life is fairly simple in general save for the few Incidents every year or so.

[...That sounds like Luceti in an eerie way. Patchouli might notice Aerith looking somewhat mystified by this.] "Incidents"?

Yes, Incident. Sometimes youkai grow listless or bored, and interfere with the natural order or otherwise stir up trouble of some kind if only to entertain themselves or possible other reasons. My own Mistress, Remilia Scarlet, incited an Incident when she used a forbidden spellcard to cast a scarlet mist into the sky, obscuring the sun so that she may walk the earth peacefully, if only for a moment.

This, of course, upset the local shrine maiden. Battles were thought, apologies were forced, and the way of things was restored.
