18th post: [Action]

[Arche's decided to take a break from people.

To this end, she's stored her journal in a desk at home and set out away from the town. She's currently by the lake, a bag of provisions lying next to her and a thermos of hot tea in her hands. Where she'll go from here she's got no idea.

If you're down around there, talk to her and try to find out what's up if you like. Don't expect her to be all that forthcoming though.

That they have. But I myself have moved on as well, to a city with over seven million residents. [He chuckles at that, almost bitterly.] Ach, had someone told me when I was still nae yet grown that I would end up like I am now, I'd have called them a fool.

[identity profile] skyborne-mage.livejournal.com 2010-02-07 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
Seven million in one city? Wow... how do they all fit?

[That gets a little chuckle.] Isn't that true of everyone? I mean, some of us more than others, but our kid selves'd never believe what we grow up to be and do.

Very, very tall buildings.

Perhaps, but I don't believe my younger self had quite the imagination for it. On the other hand though, I'm sure ye've quite a way to go before that becomes an issue, lassie.

[identity profile] skyborne-mage.livejournal.com 2010-02-07 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
Like the Community Buildings here?

Mmmm, I've got a lot ahead of me, you're right there. [Of course, she's also over a hundred, but hey, she's a half-elf.]

[identity profile] rideircc.livejournal.com 2010-02-07 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
Ye could say that, only multiplied ten times over in height.

Then there are still many marvel yet to be seen. [And he's got a good eight hundred years on her. Ironically she looks closer to her real age than he does!]

[identity profile] skyborne-mage.livejournal.com 2010-02-07 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
That high? That's almost as tall as Yggdrasill!

There'd better always be new stuff to see. Or else what are we living for?

[identity profile] rideircc.livejournal.com 2010-02-07 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
The world tree?

I live to see my own personal story reach its conclusion. Perhaps not the noblest of aspirations, but 'tis all that's left for one very old man.

[identity profile] skyborne-mage.livejournal.com 2010-02-07 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah- wait, how do you know about the tree? I thought only Aselia had one.

Your story, huh? What kind of story is it?

[identity profile] rideircc.livejournal.com 2010-02-07 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
The world tree is spoken of in Norse mythology. As far as my own world is concerned, I do nae believe it to have ever existed. [Although in his world, every legend and myth has some element of truth to it, so he can't be certain about that.]

The same as any other man's, I suspect. One that has to do with a woman. Mine just tends to drag on a bit towards the end.

[identity profile] skyborne-mage.livejournal.com 2010-02-07 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
A myth, huh... Weird, that they'd have the same name. Mine's definitely real though. I've been to it.

Ahh... missing her?

[identity profile] rideircc.livejournal.com 2010-02-07 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
Everything has some element of truth to it. Perhaps what is absolute in one world may be little more than legend in another, such as the case is here.

[He laughs.] No, lass. She's anything but a woman I'd miss.

[identity profile] skyborne-mage.livejournal.com 2010-02-07 06:44 am (UTC)(link)
Hmmm... maybe there's more similar in between our worlds than we think.

[She tilts her head, a little grin forming.] Well that's a difference from the usual story right there, isn't it?

[identity profile] rideircc.livejournal.com 2010-02-07 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
That may well be. It's already an extraordinary coincidence that like my own world, yours would also seem to have humans, don't you think?

So it is. But there was once a time I did call her friend. Does that make it sound more familiar?

[identity profile] skyborne-mage.livejournal.com 2010-02-08 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
That's true... your world have elves, too?

Betrayal? Yeah, that's an old one. Sorry to hear it.

[identity profile] rideircc.livejournal.com 2010-02-08 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
Again, they exist only in the stories. I take it that ye haves elves at home?

It's a story I had my own part in making. I've come to accept that.

[identity profile] skyborne-mage.livejournal.com 2010-02-08 09:07 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah. So, no elves in your world... Just humans? Or are there others?

Mmm. Well, good luck with the end then. Hope it's satisfying when you get to it.

[identity profile] rideircc.livejournal.com 2010-02-08 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
There are the Gargoyles, few as they are. What of the elves in your world?

Aye. I hope so, lass. I truly do.

[identity profile] skyborne-mage.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
They tend to keep to themselves in the forests, but every so often one or two will decide to go out into human territory. There are even half-elves.

[identity profile] rideircc.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Have ye met any elves or half-elves?
