[As Luceti's populace struggles with attempts to sort out messed-up memories and personality warpings, some of the residents are combating more... mundane problems.

The journal flops open to reveal a panicked Arche fussing with something in a pan.]

Come on, don't you burn on me... Oh crap!

[She jumps over to another pan, reaching for it... and completely forgetting to grab an oven mitt as she does so.]

Yeowch! [And, of course, she drops it, the contents spilling all over the floor. She slips on them, falling out of sight of the journal, and then clambers back up to turn off the stove. She looks at the results of her endeavors.]

... Dammit, why does this always happen. Every time I try to cook... [She sighs, turning around.] Where's Mint when I need-

[She cuts off as she notices the journal open... and recording.] Oh hell, how long has this thing been on?

[She gives him a flat look, but it doesn't last all that long before she chuckles.]

If you really want to, I wouldn't mind. What's your name?

Ahaha, I wouldn't say it's really boredom... [Just that he loves helping people out.]

Hayate! My name is Hayate Ayasaki. What about yours?

[She snickers a bit, but not too unkindly.] I was teasing you, kiddo.

I'm Arche Klaine. Nice to meetcha. If you really want to come help, you can find me at house thirteen.

[Oh. Oops! Oh well.]

Mm, it's very nice to meet you as well, Klaine-san! House 13? [That's just a bit far away from where Hayate is, but he doesn't mind.] I'll start heading over there now, so I'll be there in a bit!

[And then the feed shuts off.

..and then back on again.]

Oh! Is there anything you may need, Klaine-san? I'll be passing the grocery store on the way, so...

[She blinks in surprise when it comes back on and considers the question for a moment.]

Umm.... I'm out of pork chops now. If there are any around there that'd be great.

Pork chops..? Okay! I'll pick those up on the way then and see you soon, Klaine-san!

[And then off the feed goes again..! But it stays off this time, of course. Just give Hayate an hour or two and he'll be knocking on the door of house 13, a grocery bag with pork chops in hand. yep.]

[The door opens after the first knock and Arche grins at him.]

Hey there, Hayate. Oh, you got the pork chops! Great, come on in!

[She waves him inside the house and leads him to the kitchen, which looks... spotless. Then again, she has had an hour to tidy up.]

I don't think I said it before, but... thanks for coming and helping me out. I really do appreciate it.

[Just following her dododo. And glancing around a bit as he does. He's a little surprised to see how clean the kitchen is, especially considering what he had heard over the journal...!]

Mm, it's not a problem at all, Klaine-san! I'm happy to help. [He sets the pork chops onto a counter.] So what were you trying to make?

Pork chops and applesauce. I was boiling the apples in water so they'd be softer, but I, uh... left them in too long.

[As in, until the water had all boiled away too long.]

Fortunately I've still got plenty more apples.

Ahh, okay! At least you still have enough apples left over.

[..hmmm.] Was there a specific recipe you were trying to follow?

Errr, no. I actually don't have any recipes. I tend to improvise.

[Ladies and gentlemen, the root of the problem. Or at least one of them.]

A-ah, I see... I suppose that means we found the root of the problem...

But ah, that's fine! I happen to know of a few applesauce recipes, so we could just use one of those.

... There are recipes for applesauce? I thought it was basically just... smash up the apples until they're pulp.

Yes, of course there are! There are many different recipes for it, actually. Especially if you want to add extra things to it, like cinnamon.

Okay... Well, let's start off easy then, I guess.

[She's going to just try and hide how embarrassed she is.]

[Oh, Arche... Hayate thinks for a moment, wondering about which applesauce recipe to use... But if they're starting simple..]

Well, first we should figure out exactly how much of each ingredient we'll be needing, so... How many servings are you planning on making, Klaine-san?

[She figures it's a pretty obvious answer. She was just going to feed herself, but now that he's here helping her out it's not like she's going to let him walk away empty-handed.]

[Well, she could have had some friends she wanted to make it for as well...!]

Okay! In that case, we'll be needing three apples, about a half a cup of water, and three tablespoons of white sugar. And if you'd like to add cinnamon for more flavor, that would be um.. [..hm.] About a fourth of a teaspoon.
